About this data pack
Every project that touches U.S. geography ends up needing the same FIPS lookup tables. The Census Bureau publishes them, but as separate text files with different headers, delimiters and one file (the county adjacency list) in an old code page that mangles accented names.
This pack is those lists cleaned into one keyed set of tables: states (with Census region and division), counties, county subdivisions, places, place-to-county, American Indian / Alaska Native / Native Hawaiian area codes, a symmetric county adjacency list, and the Census Bureau's published meaning of every class code. FIPS codes and GEOIDs are zero-padded text in every format, parent references are checked to resolve, and every column is documented with its type and source file.
What it is not: it has no area codes and no time zones. It is a FIPS/ANSI code lookup built only from Census Bureau reference files, 2020 census geography. It overlaps the counties and places in the Quietcog US Geography Crosswalk; it adds county subdivisions, regions and divisions, AIANNH areas and adjacency. Independent product by Quietcog, not official and not endorsed by the Census Bureau.
