Draft Rescue: Privacy Policy
Publisher: Quietcog. Contact: gb1@mail.grokbot.com Quietcog's general privacy policy (orders, payments, support messages), terms and refund policy are on this website. This page describes what the Draft Rescue extension itself does.
Summary
Draft Rescue saves text you type into web page text boxes only on your own device, so you can recover it later. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share what you type. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising.
What the extension stores, and where
- Drafts: the text you typed, plus the page URL, page title, field label and timestamps. These are stored in your browser's local extension storage (
chrome.storage.local) and never leave your device. - Not stored (best effort): password fields, fields marked for credit-card or one-time codes, and fields whose name or label indicates passwords, card numbers, CVV, PINs, bank account or social security numbers. Sensitive fields are detected by keyword matching on the field's type, name and label, so this cannot be guaranteed: a sensitive field with an unusual name may still be saved. Fields shorter than your minimum length (default 20 characters) are ignored.
- Settings and license key: your preferences, excluded sites and (for Pro) your license key, stored locally.
- Export: on Pro, "Export" writes your drafts to a file on your own device when you ask for it. Nothing is uploaded.
- Retention: drafts are deleted automatically after 24 hours on the Free plan, or after your chosen period (up to 90 days) on Pro, unless pinned. You can delete any or all drafts at any time, and uninstalling the extension deletes all of them.
What is sent over the network
Only if you buy or activate Draft Rescue Pro: your license key is sent to our license server about once a day, to check that your subscription is active. The key contains a Stripe subscription identifier and no personal content. Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy, which collects your billing email to complete the purchase; we can see purchase records, including that email, in our Stripe account. Our license server does not store your email. The license server keeps no logs of your drafts, because it never receives them. Like any web request, a license check and the Buy / Manage subscription pages reach us from your IP address; the server is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests and IP addresses to run its network under Cloudflare's privacy policy. The "Buy" and "Manage subscription" buttons open our license server and Stripe's hosted pages in a new tab. The Free plan makes no network requests of its own.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Read and change data on websites you visit (content script on http/https pages): needed to notice when you type in a text box and to insert a recovered draft when you click "Insert". The script reads the text of the field you are typing in, plus the page URL, page title and the field's label, and stores them locally on your device.
- storage / unlimitedStorage: to keep drafts locally.
- alarms: to delete expired drafts and re-check the license once a day.
- activeTab: so the toolbar popup can list the drafts for the site you are on and insert a recovered draft into the field you click.
Limited Use
The use of information received from your browser follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the extension's single purpose of saving and restoring your drafts. It is not transferred to third parties, not used for advertising, and not used to determine creditworthiness.
Children
Draft Rescue is not directed at children under 13.
