Roster Tabs
Creates a tab for every name on a list. Teachers keep a tab per student, freelancers a tab per client, managers a tab per employee, event planners a tab per vendor.
Roster Tabs is not yet listed on the Google Workspace Marketplace. This page will link to the listing when it is published.
What it does
- Reads the names in one column of your roster tab, ignoring blank rows and duplicates.
- Copies your template tab once per name, so formulas, formatting, column widths and validation come along. Tab names can have a prefix or suffix.
- Optionally writes roster columns into cells of each new tab (for example the name into B2 and the email into B3).
- Shows a preview of every tab it will create and every row it will skip.
- Run it again after adding names: it only creates tabs for names that do not have one yet, and never overwrites or changes an existing tab.
- "Undo last run" removes exactly the tabs that run created.
- Pro: tab colors, more rows per run, more filled cells, and saved profiles for several rosters.
What it does not do
- It does not run by itself. You click the button.
- It does not keep tabs and the roster in sync after the tabs are created.
- Tab names follow Google Sheets rules: characters such as / : ? * [ ] are replaced by a space and names are limited to 100 characters. The preview marks adjusted names.
- Very long runs can hit Google's six-minute limit for add-ons. The add-on stops cleanly, keeps what it created and tells you to run it again to continue.
